The Isle of Iona off the west coast of Scotland is a sacred site for Christians around the world. It is only 3 miles long and 2 miles wide with a population of 130. Pilgrims come from all over the world to visit Iona's magical charm, which lingers with them long after the ferry ride home. There is a belief that on Iona there is a "thin veil" between God and man. As we were exploring Iona one day, we squeezed through wire sheep fences and came upon a magical stone covered beach facing Camus Cul an Tiibh, the Bay at the Back of the Ocean. The beach of stones was like multi colored glistening jewels. On Iona they say you can almost hear the "Sacred Stones" speak, but one must first learn to hear the voice of silence.
