Pono: The Sacred Spirit of Hawaii
Why do I travel to sacred places?
My journey to sacred places is not a new concept. Since the beginning of time, people have sojourned near and far to sacred places in pursuit of a spiritual communion with oneself, with ancient people, and with the universe around us.
My sacred journey to Hawaii will include visits to many sacred sites including: Hawaiian heiaus, which is a place of ancient worship, offering and sacrifice; a Tibetan Buddhist Temple where the Dalai Lama taught; and Molokai’s Kalaupapa Peninsula, which has a great sense of mystery and reverence – this location was set aside in the 1860’s as a leper colony and the Belgian priest Father Damien tended to the exiled patients.
Sacred places represent the essential spirit of humankind.
To complete the adventure, you can view my photographic exhibit, “Pono: The Sacred Spirit of Hawaii” at the Sacred Pause Studio Open House June 26 - 28. For more information, call 214-828-4009 or get details on this website.
