As I entered the Church of the Holy Sepulcher originally built in AD335 and spiritually the heart of the Chrisitian quarter of Jerusalem, I stopped at the Stone of Unction to take this image. This is the location that is said to mark the spot where Jesus’s body was anointed and wrapped by the women prior to entombment. In the background of this image one can see a painting of the women and Jesus. The gold crosses are holding a sacristy lamp over the stone.
